Rhythm Action Legends Unveil Project Rap Rabbit

If you’re a fan of rhythm action games, there’s a good chance that you’ll have experienced the work of NanaOn-Sha, iNIS J or both at some point or another. The former development team has given the world the likes of PaRappa The Rapper, Um Jammer Lammy and Vib Ribbon, while the latter produced Gitaroo Man, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! and the Xbox 360 Lips series.

Now they’ve come together to unveil Project Rap Rabbit, a music game based on Japanese history which goes far beyond the norm. Instead of PaRappa’s fixed rhymes, our hero Toto-Maru can dish out customised lines in actual rap battle style. When your opponent insults you, an RPG-style dialogue wheel allows you to set the style of your next line – allowing you to brush off your opponent or simply stick in a cheap dig. It’s an intriguing proposition, and one we’ll be fascinated to see in action.

PC and PS4 copies of Project Rap Rabbit are available from £30 for a digital release and £35 for a physical copy, with rewards stretching right up to almost £8,000. Project Rub Rabbit needs £855,000 to make its Kickstarter funding goal.
